Dorothy Louella Sells, age 89, of
Oklahoma City and former resident of Greer County, passed away Thursday
afternoon, April 21, 2016, at Legend at Rivendell Assisted Living Center, in
Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Sells was born in Truscott, Texas on January 8, 1927, to James Orvel and
Minnie Louella (Browder) Tapp. Moving to Greer County as a child, the family
lived in the Granite and Lake Creek Communities. After graduating from Lake
Creek in 1946, she married Loyd Edmond Sells in June of 1946, and he preceded
her in death on October 29, 1999. After their marriage, they lived in Willow for
several years where Loyd operated a machine shop. They later moved to Oklahoma
City where Loyd worked for the FAA and Jet Away Flight Service. To this union
one son, Eddie, was born and Dorothy devoted all of her time, caring for Eddie,
supporting Loyd and caring for their home.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother Jimmy Tapp, she is
survived by her son, Eddie Sells of Moore, Oklahoma; one niece Jenice Yvonne
Tapp of Tuttle and several other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Dorothy Louella Sells will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, April
23, 2016, at the Willow Cemetery with Pastor Doug Altom officiating. Services
are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
