Dewie Bradford, age 86, of Mangum, passed away Friday afternoon,
July 23, 2010, at Grace Living Center in Mangum.
Mr. Bradford was born in Leonard, Texas, on March 14, 1924, to Wiley
Fate and Alta Mae (Whitworth) Bradford. After living in Leonard for
several years, where he began school and farmed with his dad, the
family moved to Greer County in the early 1940’s. With his mother
dying, while he was a teenager, he quit school and continued helping
his father farm. On November 7, 1945, he married Renny Mae
Westmoreland, in Wellington, Texas and they spent the next
sixty-four years together. Setting up their first home in the Wild
Cat Community, a short time later, they moved to the Duke area.
After their house burned, they moved to the Russell Community, where
they lived until moving to Mangum in 2005.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Gail Rice, two sisters,
Bonnie Miller and Louise Stansbury, one brother and one sister at
birth, and his parents,
He is
survived by his wife, Renny Mae Bradford; five children, Phyllis
Stalcup and husband Gary of Lewisville, Texas, Jerry Don Bradford
and wife Susan of Russell, Kenneth Wayne Bradford and wife Vangie of
Geary, Oklahoma, Doris Faye Bradford of Mangum and Dewey James
Bradford and wife Shary of Vinson; three sisters, Lucy Langford of
Oklahoma City, Dorothy Westmoreland of Oklahoma City and Helen Moon
of Mangum; one brother, James (Jack) Bradford; eleven grandchildren;
twenty-two great grandchildren along with many other relatives and
friends.
Funeral services for Dewie Bradford will be held at 10 a.m.,
Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Russell Baptist Church, with Elders
Conway Wood and Glenn Rooker officiating.
Interment will follow at
Russell Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of
Mangum.
