Gertrude Lillie (Barber) Thomas, age 89, of Mangum, formerly of Granite, passed away Wednesday morning, August 1, 2012, at Quartz Mountain Medical Center, in Mangum.

Mrs. Thomas was born in Grant, Oklahoma on December 1, 1922, to Herschel C. and Vera Alpha (Akin) Barber. She married Thomas Harold Thomas on May 10, 1944, in Norman, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1991. For many years, they made their home in California where she and Tom served in the United States Navy and he later was a metal-smith in the aircraft industry. After their retirement, they moved to Granite in 1988, and Tom preceded her in death on September 3, 1991.

Gertrude is preceded in death by her husband, one son, Thomas Lowell Thomas; three brothers, Roger Barber, Sol Barber and Bill Barber and one sister, Pauline. Survivors include three grandchildren, Kyle Thomas of Mangum, Lacy Thomas and Seth Thomas of Mustang, Oklahoma and three great grandchildren, Chase, Makayla and Cassdan.

Funeral services for Gertrude Thomas will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel, in Mangum. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home.
