Barbara Elnita “Nita” (McCulloch) Patterson, age 84, of Mangum, passed away early Sunday morning, August 19, 2012, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital, in Lawton.

Nita was born in Vinson on October 6, 1927, to Joseph Thomas (Jody) and Minnie Myrtle (Scott) McCulloch and moved to the Sulphur Community when she was three months old. Beginning her education at Sulphur, she graduated from Reed in 1945. Barbara began working for Zeke Wade at the Hamburger Café and later for Ralph Clabaugh at the grocery store. She also worked at the Greer County Locker, Puckett's Grocery and later as a secretary for Harold McDaniel at Farm Bureau Insurance for several years. She married Gayther Patterson in 1972 and they moved to Ft. Worth, Texas and later to Woodward. Gayther preceded her in death in 1978 and she continued living in Woodward until 2006, when she returned to Greer County. Barbara was an avid Thunder fan, loved sewing in her spare time and watching the cooking shows on television.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters, June Mosley and Dorothy Matthews, she is survived by three sisters, Joela Thompson and husband Elton of Reed, Ramona Cooksey and husband Claud of Dumas, Texas, and Donna Kerbo and husband Neal of Mangum along with many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Barbara Patterson will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marsha Purtel officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
