Roland Avery McAlexander known to family and friends as Daddy ,Papa, Zack, age
76 of Mangum, passed away at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City on
Saturday, April 1, 2006.
Mr. McAlexander was born on February 1, 1930 at Reed Oklahoma to Billy Ferd and
Ora L. (Miller) McAlexander. He married Betty Nowell on December 5, 1953 in
Mangum Oklahoma. A member of the Mangum First Baptist Church, Mr. McAlexander
retired from Armco Steel after many years of service. He was also a veteran of
the Korean War and served his country in the United States Army for almost 2
years . After his retirement, his life was dedicated to his family, especially
his grandchildren.
Attending their sporting events and school activities gave him great enjoyment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Luther McAlexander and
Billy James McAlexander and a daughter, Debbie Atchley. He is survived by his
wife, Betty of the home; two daughters, Dianna Wilkins and husband Ky of Dale,
Oklahoma and Dana Wendt and husband Mike of Mangum; one sister, Sue McCauley of
Anadarko, Oklahoma; one brother, Durwood McAlexander and wife Roberta of
Sacramento, California; five grandchildren, Melissa Beavers of Yukon, Kelby
Wendt of
Mangum, Kaylee Wilkins of Dale, Jace Wilkins of Dale and Kade Wendt of Mangum;
two
great-grandchildren, Trystyn and Kayleb Beavers and one son-in-law, Ronnie
Atchley of Altus and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of
many, many friends.
Funeral services for Roland McAlexander will be Tuesday, April 6, 2006 at 10 am
at the Mangum First Baptist Church with Rev. Ben VanVacter officiating.
Internment will follow at the Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer
Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family of Roland McAlexander will greet friends at Greer Funeral Home in
Mangum from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday evening, April 3, 2006.
