Mary Betty McAlexander, age 79, of Mangum, passed away
Thursday evening, August 27, 2015, at Grace Living Center, in Mangum.
Mrs. McAlexander was born in Soper, Oklahoma on March 6, 1936, to Andrew Jackson
and Girtha Hendrix (Roden) Nowell. As a child, her family moved to the Plainview
community, in Greer County, where she graduated high school. On December 5,
1953, Betty married the love of her life, Roland Avery McAlexander, in Mangum,
and they spent the next fifty-two wonderful years together before his death on
April 1, 2006. After their marriage, they established their home in Mangum where
she lived all of her life. A homemaker all of her life, Betty loved following
her children and grandchildren in their activities. In her spare time she
enjoyed working in her yard.
Preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Debbie Atchley; four brothers,
Colvin Nowell, Stanley Nowell, Hall Nowell and Frank Nowell; two sisters, Ida
Vinson and Dollie Banks, she is survived by two daughters, Dianna Wilkins and
husband Ky of Dale, Oklahoma and Dana Wendt and husband Mike of Mangum; five
grandchildren, Melissa Beavers of Yukon, Kelby Wendt and wife Sally of Quinton,
Oklahoma, Kaylee Wilkins of Oklahoma City, Jace Wilkins of Dale, Oklahoma and
Kade Wendt of Mangum; two great grandchildren, Caleb Beavers and Tristian
Beavers; three sisters, Annie Mae Grubbs of Norman, Edith Grubbs of Borger,
Texas and Peggy Sanchez of Colorado; one brother, Roy Nowell and wife Betty Ruth
of Oklahoma City along with many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Betty McAlexander will be at 10 a.m., Monday, August 31,
2015, at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends at Greer Funeral Home on Sunday, August 30, 2015,
from 5 until 6 p.m.
