Wayne Edd Estep, age 85, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014, at his
residence, in Mangum.
Mr. Estep was born in Walters, Oklahoma on June 19, 1929, to Myler and Nettie
(Jones) Estep. After leaving high school, Wayne joined the United States Army
and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Moving to Mangum in the
late 1960’s, he engaged himself into the community and was loved by all who knew
him. On December 23, 1970, he married Mildred Marie (Abrams) Lecklider and they
spent thirty-seven wonderful years together before her death on July 14, 2008.
Wayne was a master carpenter and could build anything. He was a finish carpenter
and also completed many roofing projects in Greer County. For a time, Wayne
worked as a custodian for Mangum School and served as a bus driver. In his spare
time Wayne enjoyed fishing and visiting and drinking coffee with his friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife and eleven brothers and sisters,
Wayne is survived by one son, Paul Wayne Estep and wife Barbara of Riverside,
Washington; one step-daughter, Quintena Sowders of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; three
grandchildren, Michael Straub of Rio Rancho, Christena Sowders of Rio Rancho and
Tamela Hedgpeth and husband Joshua of Rio Rancho; two great grandchildren,
Autumn Hedgpeth and Gryphon Hedgpeth along with many other relatives and
friends.
Memorial Services for Wayne Estep will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 13,
2014, at Trinity Baptist Church with James Hopkins officiating. Inurnment will
follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.

Obit for Mildred by Jo Aguirre
Mildred Marie Estep, age 80, of Mangum, passed away early Monday
morning, July 14, 2008, at Mangum Community Hospital.
Mrs. Estep was born October 22, 1927, to Walter S. and Mabel O.(Brown) Abrams in
Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Moving to Mangum in 1947, from McLeod, Oklahoma, she was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Mangum.
On December 23, 1970, she married Wayne Edd Estep in Mangum.
She was a homemaker who loved and cared for her family, especially her daughter
and grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Vernon and
Kenneth Abrams.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne, of the home; one daughter, Quintena
Sowders of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; one step-son, Paul Wayne Estep and wife
Barbara Ann of Riverside, Washington; three grandchildren, Michael Straub and
Christena Sowders of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Tamela Hedgpeth and husband
Joshua of Winston Salem, North Carolina; one great granddaughter, Autumn Faye
Hedgpeth of Winston Salem, North Carolina; one brother, Bob Abrams of Mangum;
two sisters, Ermaline Matthews of Altus and Freda Bryan of Mangum along with
many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mildred Estep will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 17,
2008, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Robles officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral
Home of Mangum.
