Dr. John Felton Locklear, Pharm.D., age 49, of
Cordell, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009.
John was born on September 15, 1960, in Mangum, Oklahoma to Felton Ray and Betty
Jane (Sanders) Locklear. At an early age, the family moved to Hollis where John
later graduated. After graduation, John joined the family business, Locklear
Roofing. With that job, it took the family to several locations one of which was
Vernon, Texas where he attended Vernon Regional Junior College. Shortly
thereafter he moved to Clinton, Oklahoma where he began pharmacy school at
Southwestern Oklahoma State University. After graduation, John lived several
years in Clinton, moving to Cordell in 2007, where he lived until his death. In
1979, John married Sheila Cast, the mother of his three girls, and in 2001, he
married Nancy Newberry. John loved spending time working on his Trans Am,
watching OU sports, riding his motorcycle and fishing, but most of all he loved
spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents,
John is survived by his wife, Nancy; three daughters, Jennifer West and
husband David of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Amanda Locklear of Stillwater, Oklahoma
and Jon Ann Kinsley and husband Raymond of Midwest City; two step daughters,
Carmen Newberry of Clinton and Amber Lourens and husband Nico of Clinton; one
sister, Marybeth Acosta and husband Dr. Peter Acosta of San Antonio, Texas; one
brother, Bill Locklear of Clinton; six grandchildren, Braden West, Brock West,
Mollie West, Megan West, Chance Lesperance and Brynna Locklear along with many
other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for John Locklear will be at 2 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2009,
at the Granite Assembly of God Church with Pastor Doyle Roark officiating.
Interment will follow at the Granite Rock Cemetery under the direction of Greer
Funeral Home of Mangum.
