Betty Jane Locklear, age 75, of Chickasha and
formerly of Mangum, passed away Saturday morning, November 1, 2008, at
Physicians Hospital in Anadarko.
Mrs. Locklear was born on August 27, 1933, in Mangum, to John Lee and Florence
Edith (Stephens) Sanders. After attending Mangum Schools, she married F.R. (Gus)
Locklear in 1949. Gus began a roofing company with his brother and moved to
Hollis in 1960. In 1978, Betty moved to Seymour, Texas. A short time later she
moved to Vernon, Texas where she began working for the State of Texas and lived
until her health began to decline in 1996. It was then she moved to Chickasha to
be near her daughter.
Preceded in death by her parents and one brother Billy Gene Sanders in 1937, she
is survived by four children, Bill Locklear of Clinton, Mary Beth Acosta and
husband Peter of San Antonio, Barbara Carter of Chickasha and John Locklear and
wife Nancy of Cordell; thirteen grandchildren, Angella Nichole Schultz and
husband Chris, Jennifer West and husband David, Amanda Locklear, Jon Ann
Locklear, Carmen Newberry, Amber Lourens and husband Nico, Chad Green and wife
Lisa, Nancy Walker, Jeffery Todd Cummins and wife Melanie, Arica Leigh Lott and
husband John, Meghan Acosta, Peter Acosta and Chelsea DeLucia and husband
Patrick; fifteen great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at
Greer Funeral Home Chapel with Junior Locklear officiating. Greer Funeral Home
is in charge of the arrangements.
