Bob James Aebischer, age 81, of Mangum, passed away late Wednesday evening, April 14, 2010, at the home of his daughter.
Mr. Aebischer was born in Granite, Oklahoma on November 22, 1928, to Ernest James and Fern Amanda L. (Haynes) Aebischer. After graduating from Lake Creek in 1946, he moved to Chillicothe, Missouri where he attended Business College. On September 27, 1948, he was inducted into the United States Navy where he proudly served his country for the next four years during the Korean War. After his discharge, he moved to Del City, Oklahoma where he began working as a navigator for civil service. On June 7, 1968, he married Melba LaNell (Pope) King in Del City and she preceded him in death on January 28, 2005. After retiring in 1973, he moved home to Lake Creek, where he lived until his death. Hunting and gun repair were two of his hobbies, but fishing was only second to the love of his family.
Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LaNell; two brothers, William and Danny; one sister Fern and a son, Michael James.
He is survived by four children, Patricia Shoopman of Mangum, Edith Hudson and husband Charles of Midwest City, Oklahoma, J.C. King and wife Sandy of Oklahoma City and Larry King of Midwest City; two brothers, Julian Aebischer of Wright City, Oklahoma and Dick Aebischer and wife Linda of Colorado; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Maxine Conley of Del City, Oklahoma; one brother-in-law, Paul Pope and wife June of Missouri, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Bob James Aebischer will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Willow with Rev. Scott Northrip officiating.
Interment will follow at Granite Rock Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends at Greer Funeral Home, in Mangum, on Friday, from 6 until 7 p.m.
