Nelda Fay Ogden, age 85, of Mangum, passed away
Monday afternoon, January 11, 2016, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Ogden was born in Mangum, Oklahoma on April 16, 1930, to Jeff D. and Thelma
E. (Fagan) Hawkins. Mrs. Ogden attend Mangum School until tenth grade when she
moved to Granite and married Wallace Terry Ogden on July 14, 1946. Over the
years she lived in several different locations in Kansas and Texas. In 1980,
Nelda returned to Mangum and ran Ogden Retirement Home until Wallace’s death on
June 16, 2000. After his death, Nelda moved to San Diego, California, back to
Mangum and then a short time in South Texas before returning to Mangum, where
she lived until her death. During her working years she worked at Kellwood, in
Altus, and at Woolworth Department Store. A longtime member of the Mangum
Nazarene Church, Nelda loved her family and many friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Paul Hawkins and one
sister Gracie Houston, she is survived by two daughters, Brenda McRay of
Huntsville, Texas and Terry Raney of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, Tawny
Buck, Mindy Ravines, Telisha Bear, Carl Bear, Toni Jenkins and Bobbie Jo Raney;
nineteen great grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren and many other
relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Nelda Fay Ogden will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 14,
2015, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel with Gene Houston officiating. Interment will
follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of
Mangum.
