Donna Kathryn Cody, referred to as “Donna Kay” or “Grammy”, age 71, of Ada, formerly of Mangum, returned home to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 15, 2011.
Mrs. Cody was born on December 6, 1940, in Wichita, Kansas to Frank and Hanna (Peterson) Schulte. On September 24, 1960, she married Wilson E. Lonzo Cody and they spent the next fifty-one years together. A longtime resident of Mangum, Donna Kay, worked for Dr. Sellers, owned Donna Kay’s House of Shoes, worked at Paxton’s Grocery and Paxton’s Fashions and later managed Dollar General before moving to Ada to manage Dollar General in Ada.
One of twelve children, Donna Kay was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Bob Schulte, Gene Schulte, Kenny Schulte and Neal Schulte; one sister, Terri Hall and one son, Lonzo Cody. She is survived by her husband Wilson E. Lonzo Cody, of the home; Terry Cody of Mangum, Tim Cody and wife Michelle of Ada, Travis Cody of Mangum, Samuel Chapa and wife Jennifer of McKinney, Texas; one daughter, Anna Holland and Tony Scott of Allen; twelve grandchildren, Michael Cody, Mindy Cody Neugebauer, Tyler Cody, Cassidy Conaway, Chad Conaway, Chelsea Holland, Jaret Holland, Jacob Holland, Laramie Sanders, Larrry Sanders, J’Lynn Chapa, and Anjelica Soto; four great grandchildren, Haley Neugebauer, Ryse Neugebauer, Melanie Cody and Marissa Cody; three brothers, Larry Schulte, Bill Schulte and John Schulte; three sisters, Marianne Seiter, Francis Borowski and Ruth Brewer along with many nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Donna Kathryn Cody will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Trinity Baptist Church, in Mangum, with Pastor Earl Hood officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
