On September 13, 1959, Hurshel passed away, leaving Ola with a two month, two-day-old baby, Ricky. She chose not to do anything but to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. She spent her life doing just that. She moved to Mangum shortly after losing her husband in 1959 and joined the First Baptist Church. She was converted at an early age. She taught some years in Sunday school, beginning with small children, all through Juniors, Intermediate, and finally adults. She was the last one of the immediate “Boyd” children. She leaves behind one sister-in-law, Della Freeman, and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Susan and Sarah Yates became part of her family in 2002. She was so proud of them. She’s made many close friends throughout the years. She’s looking forward to the reunion she will have one day in heaven.
She’s planning to see her husband, Mom and Dad, one brother, Harley Boyd, and five sisters, Mayme Thompson, Pat Herron, Lois White, Florene Stewart, and Margie Heatly, and of course, their companions. What a REUNION! She’s been blessed by her church family, children, grandchildren, and good neighbors. She appreciated them all.
Interment will follow at the Reed Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
