Haskell “Hack” Sewell, age 97, of Corn, Oklahoma and formerly of Mangum, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Sunday afternoon, June 24, 2012, at Corn Heritage Village, in Corn, Oklahoma Mr. Sewell was born on March 30, 1915, in Cullman, Alabama to Charles Simeon and Julia Pairlee (Bragg) Sewell. A long-time resident of Mangum, Hack was employed at Cowboy Cleaners for several years.
Hack was preceded in death by his parents, eight of his nine siblings and one grandson. He is survived by his wife, Lorena Sewell, of Corn; four children, Larry Sewell and wife Nancy of Murrieta, California, Linda Owens and husband Ron of Arlington, Texas, Cathy Weseloh and husband Bill of San Diego, California and Ron Sewell and wife Cindi of Riverside, California; one sister, Bobbi Ruth Powell of West Hills, California; seven grandchildren, Charles Sewell, Kevin Sewell, Michael Sewell, Melinda Weber, Daniel Owens, David Sewell and Theressa Harris; ten great grandchildren, Tyler Sewell, Helene Sewell, Ethan Sewell, Josette Sewell, Adelyne Harris, Nathaniel Harris, Jonathan Harris, Andrew Harris, Evelyn Weber and Brielle Owens along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and numerous friends. Hack enjoyed fishing and bowling in his spare time and had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Mangum.
Funeral services for Haskell Sewell will be at 2 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2012, at Mangum First Baptist Church with Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Granite Rock Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
