Barbara Ruth Coburn, age 77, of Granite, passed away late
Wednesday evening, December 9, 2015, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Coburn was born in Granite, Oklahoma on October 14, 1938, to Bradley and
Olivett (Bliss) Willis. The family later moved to Wichita Falls, Texas and
Barbara worked for Pioneer Restaurants. They had eight locations in the area and
Barbara was a supervisor. In 1972, Barbara began working at PPG Industries where
they manufactured glass. In 1979, Barbara married Arthur Coburn and he preceded
her in death on May 14, 2010. Moving back to Granite, Barbara began working in
1982, as a correctional officer with the Department of Corrections at the
Granite Reformatory. In 2002, she retired as a counselor with DOC. In her spare
time, Barbara loved traveling with Arthur, growing flowers and having fun with
her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Johnny Miller and Steve
Miller; a daughter, Ruth Watanabe and two brothers, Jack Willis and Tommy
Willis,
She is survived by one son, David Deas and wife Salah of
Granite; one brother, James Willis of Wichita Falls, Texas; nine grandchildren,
Hannah Deas, James Deas, Sandra Watanabe, Jessica Edwards, Michelle Ruddy,
Johnny Miller; David Miller, Mark Miller and Cassie Mulkey; six great
grandchildren; Selina Martin, Connor Martin, Summer Miller, McKinzie Edwards,
Kaine Edwards and Abigal Ruddy; one niece, Rhonda Willis; one nephew, Danny
Willis along with many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Barbara Coburn will be at 2 p.m., Monday, December 14,
2015, at the Granite First Baptist Church with Pastor Kris Ramber officiating.
Interment will follow at the Granite City Cemetery under the direction of Greer
Funeral Home of Granite.
