Nola Virginia (McCurdy) Christian, age 78, of Granite, passed away early Friday morning, December 21, 2012, at the Hobart Living Center, in Hobart.

Mrs. Christian was born, in Granite, on March 26, 1934, to Edgar Roan and Virgie Mae (Hunt) McCurdy. Growing up in the Lake Creek Community, Nola graduated from Granite High School in 1952. After graduation, she attended Clinton Residential Nursing School where she became a registered nurse. Returning to Granite, she married Bobby Ray (Crow) Christian, the love of her life, on March 28, 1955. While Crow attended college at Southwestern, Nola worked to put him through school. Over the next several years, the family lived in Haskill, Ocena, Carter, Cement and Maysville where Nola worked in different doctor's offices and other medical facilities. In 1966, they returned to Granite and Nola worked for several years at the Mangum Hospital and Nursing Home before beginning a long tenure as a nurse at the Oklahoma State Reformatory, where she retired from in the 1990's. A long-time member of the Church of Christ, Nola supported her family through all their activities but she was blessed with fifty-two wonderful years with her best friend, Crow. Nola loved her friends and family, but being involved in and attending her grandkids sporting events brought great joy to her life.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Edgar Ralph McCurdy and Ellis Luther McCurdy; four sisters, Shelia McCurdy, Shirley Edna Imboden, Joyce Fern Manning and Elizabeth Joann (Betty) Owens and one granddaughter, Melissa Renee McCormack, she is survived by four children, Linda Rae McCormack and husband Doug of Granite, Tammie Christian of Moore, Whitney Christian and wife Dennie of Granite and Charles Christian and wife Christi of Hobart; ten grandchildren, Tiffany McCormack, Whitney M.
