Iris "Norene" Thompson, age 72 years, of Enid, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 in Oklahoma City. A celebration of her life will be at a later date with burial in Wakita Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Norene was born in Fairview, Oklahoma to Vestal and Nola (Willson) McDowell. She attended Ringwood Schools. Following high school, she worked as a nurse's aide, med aide, and EMT, and later opened a home daycare. She married Robert Neil Morland on July 15, 1975, and he passed away in 1989. She later married Phillip Ray Thompson, and they celebrated 17 years of marriage until his passing in 2006. Norene enjoyed crocheting all sorts of things, hats, scarves, blankets, bedspreads, and booties. She also had a passion for roses, and gardening in general; but she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren most of all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Vestal and Nola McDowell; husbands, Robert Morland and Phillip Thompson.
Norene is survived by three children, Ciele McDowell, of Lawton, Oklahoma; Iris Tune and husband Loyd, of Enid; Steve Willson of Enid; step-son, Robby Morland and wife Laurie, of Wakita; twenty grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers, Gary McDowell, of Enid; Eddie McDowell, of Enid; Martin McDowell and wife Susan, of Enid; two sisters, Leola Campbell and husband Lee, of Enid; Arneta McDowell, of Billings; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
