Feblruary 9, 1854 - September 17, 1933

Speldie Rites

Herman Speldie passed away at the home near Jefferson early Sunday morning after an illness of the past few months with heart trouble. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Consolidated M. E. Church, southwest of Wakita, with Rev. V. A. Johnson, Newkirk, in charge. Interment was made in the Wakita Cemetery.

Herman Benjamin Speldie was born in Ulster County, New York, February 9, 1854, and died at his home near Jefferson, September 17, 1933, aged 79 years, seven months and eight days. At the age of four years he moved with the family to Sauk County, Wisconsin and from there to southern Nebraska in 1869. In 1882 he was united in marriage to Albertine Larsen at Nelson, Nebraska. To this union were born two sons, Frank and George, both of whom are living at the home address. In 1893 he came to Oklahoma settling on a claim northwest of Jefferson which has been his home ever since. He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, Albertine Speldie, his two sons, Frank and George Speldie, one daughter-in-law, Lu Anna Speldie, two grandchildren, Fred and Alberta Speldie, two sisters and three brothers, several nephews and nieces.
