Wakita Cemetery


Funeral service for Elsie “Marie” Brock Riley will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Bethel Hawley Baptist Church, with Pastors Gary Lillie and Bob Smith officiating. Burial will be at Wakita Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek. Visitation with family is 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at Wilson Funeral Home.

Marie was born to Joe and Viola Brock on Feb. 24, 1928, in Sharon, Kan., and passed away on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Wakita Community Health Center, where she lived for the past 2 1/2 years.

Marie married Thomas “Jack” Riley on Dec. 3, 1953. They lived and farmed southwest of Wakita for more than 50 years.

Besides her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Jack” Riley; brother, Joe Brock; sister, Phyllis Brock Holmes; and two sons, Brian Riley and Dennis Corderman.

Marie is survived by a brother, John Brock of Tempe, Ariz.; daughter, Genevieve Riley of Wakita; sons, David Riley and wife Nancy of Enid, Rex Riley of Lahoma, and Darin Riley of San Antonio, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hawley Volunteer Fire Department, CHC, or Bethel Hawley Baptist Church.
