Wakita Cemetery


The funeral for Ruth Parson, 91, of Wakita will be Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Wakita, OK. Rev. Les Bussell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wakita Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 10, 1913 in Kingfisher, OK to Frank and Nora Hodges Elder and went to meet her Lord, Monday, October 24, 2005, at the Community Health Center, Wakita, Okla.

She grew up and attended school in Kingfisher. She married Russell Dale Parson on July 8, 1932 in Enid, OK. They lived in Pond Creek and Pryor, OK before making their home in Wakita in 1946. She worked for several years at the Community Health Center in Wakita.

She was a member of the Wakita United Methodist Church. She was a 55-year member and a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She had been a member of the Community Health Center family since November of 1989.

Surviving are one daughter, Peggy Samples of Wakita and three sons, Ronald Parson and wife Mary of Kaw City, OK, Larry Parson and wife Jeanne of Edmond, OK, Roger Parson and wife Dyann of Enid; seven grandsons, Keith Samples and wife Meggan of Calabasas, CA., Craig Samples and wife Carol of Long Valley, NJ, Kent Samples, Brad Parson and wife Brandy and Jason Parson, all of Edmond, OK, Randy Parson and Russell Parson of Kaw City, OK; 16 great-grandchildren (No. 17 due anytime). She is also survived by two sisters, Alta Cook of Wichita, KS and Thelma Root of Camino, CA and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell in 1992 after 60 years of marriage, infant daughter, Patricia, son-in-law Jim Samples, five sisters and a brother.

Memorials may be made to Community Health Center of Wakita. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to service time Saturday at the United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Williams Chapel, Anthony, Kan.
