Wakita – The funeral for Al Hampton, 76, will be 10:30 AM Monday at Wakita Christian Church. Burial will follow in Wakita Cemetery under direction of Wakita Funeral Home. Friends may call at the church from 10 AM to 6 PM today and 5:59 PM Sunday.
He was born January 29, 1923, at Mount Pleasant, Texas to Carl L. and Rosie Lewis Hampton and died Thursday, September 16, 1999, at his home in Wakita.
He was a longtime area resident and a retired farmer – stockman. He was a member of Wakita Christian Church. On December 29, 1946, he married Norma Jean Lett at Caldwell, Kansas.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; one son, A. J. Hampton of Jones; a daughter, Joy Lea Cooper of Junction City, Kansas; one sister, Arbell Holman of Oklahoma City; one brother, C. L. Hampton of Ardmore; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Memorials may be made to Wakita Christian Church, Wakita EMT or the charity of the donor's choice.
