Helen Christine Templin was born December 28, 1967 in Anthony, Kansas to Dean and Erma (Colson) Templin. She passed away peacefully at the age of 49 on July 29, 2017 at Golden Oaks Retirement Village in Enid, Oklahoma after a three-year battle with colon cancer.

She was the eldest of three children and grew up in Wakita, Oklahoma where she attended Wakita Public Schools until graduating as co – salutatorian with the class of 1986. Helen was proud of being a third generation graduate and was involved in many school activities including FHA, National Honor Society, band, and pep club. After graduating, Helen worked for Ercil George at the CHC Pharmacy.

On July 16, 1988 Helen was united in marriage with Kevin George of Wakita, where they made their home and were married for nine years. After attending Autry Vo – Tech in Enid in Advanced Business Technology, she worked for Homer Holden Insurance in Medford, Oklahoma and later Pond Creek Foodland before her current employment with Rapp Insurance. She has worked as an insurance agent for LD Rapp for almost 20 years and was very dedicated to her job and her customers. Helen was grateful for the opportunity to travel to insurance conferences especially to the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. She talked often of her trips and enjoyed sharing all of her wonderful experiences.

In her spare time, Helen loved crafts, reading, and cooking (especially chocolate chip cookies) and caring for her cat, Blue. She enjoyed shopping and always loved giftgiving. She would spend her valuable time making sure her nieces and nephew had the perfect gift for all their special occasions. She was an amazing aunt and was always concerned about what the kids were doing, and she always found time to read books, play, tell stories, and snuggle. Helen loved country music and western dances and loved the opportunity to hear Bob and Bobby Bennett, and Les Gilliam sing and play music.

Helen has been a member of the Steppin' Rhythm Clogging Team in Enid for about seven years and was dedicated to dancing even through fighting her cancer. She refused to sit down and just watch because she was part of a team that she dearly loved and wasn't going to let a little fatigue keep her from fulfilling her passion to dance. Helen was a member of Bethel Hawley Baptist Church and spent many years helping with VBS and the church newsletter. She loved all of her church family and treasure all of those relationships.

In 2016, Helen's class celebrated their 30 year honor class at the WHS alumni banquet. She took great pride in attending the banquet each year and was an officer on the board several times. Helen always enjoyed visiting with her classmates and kept in touch with many of them. Growing up at WHS was something that Helen said you can never buy; we were so blessed to have been given that.

Helen was a huge OU Sooners fan and knew their game schedules and the names of the players. She had lots of OU memorabilia, and always had a battle going with brother, Jason, about his OSU Cowboys. Annette settled the score and liked both teams, while Helen and Jason said that had to be illegal. She was also a big supporter of Relay for Life and was a sponsored survivor by her dance team.

Helen was preceded in death by her grandparents, two aunts, one uncle, three cousins, and her dad in September 2016. She will be deeply missed by her mom, Erma of Wakita, sister Annette (Kenton) Cooperrider, Anthony, Kansas, brother Jason Templin, Clearwater, Kansas, nieces and nephew, Kendie and Kody Cooperrider, and Jaelyn and Rylee Rae Templin, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a host of many dear friends.
