Marcus Edward Duncan, son of Gary and Susan (Ott) Duncan, was born Jan. 30, 1984, in Wakita, Oklahoma. As a young child, he was baptized in the Baptist church.

He grew up in Wakita, where he attended Wakita school. Marcus was very athletic and excelled in football, basketball, golf and track. He graduated from Wakita High School in 2002. He attended Autry Technology Center for a year, majoring in auto body.

On July 19, 2003, he married Misty Morawitz in Wakita. This union was blessed with one son, Talan. Talan became Marcus’s life. He was a very loving and caring father, cherishing every second he spent with his son.

Marcus worked as a ranch foreman and salesman for Biby Ag in Wakita. He was a member of Wakita Volunteer Fire Department.

On Saturday morning, Oct. 3, 2009, Marcus passed away south of Manchester, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George Ott, Shirley Dickinson, Elizabeth Hughes and Charles Hughes; his great-grandmother, Mary Umbarger; and two aunts, Debbie Morland and Linda Randolph.

He will be deeply missed by his son, Talan, and mother, Misty of Yukon; his mother, Susan, of Wakita; his father, Gary, of Wakita; his sister, Jessica Locke and husband Stan of Enid; his brother, Lucas Duncan and Sereptia of Wakita; his grandma, Sandy Ott of Wakita; his nephew and niece, Aaron and Brileigh Duncan; his special family, Jerry and Shirley Biby of Wakita; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of many friends.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Wakita School Bi-Building. Burial will be in Wakita Cemetery.

Friends may sign the register book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, Kansas.
