Joint services will be held for Dona and Herman. The wake and remembrance service will be Monday, August 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church in Wakita followed by a visitation with the family from 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Catholic Parish Hall. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the St Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church in Wakita, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery north of Medford at 11:45 a.m. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford. www.lanmanmemorials.com

Dona Dean Sutton Conrady was born September 7, 1932 in Anthony, Kansas to Ed Sutton and Fern Blakesley Sutton. She departed this life August 14, 2012. She grew up on the Blakesley Homestead near Wakita and graduated from Wakita High School in 1950. She married Herman Dale Conrady in the Wakita Catholic Church on July 14, 1951.

Dona earned her LPN in 1969 and RN in 1991. She worked at the Wakita CHC and retired from the Enid Methodist Home in 2004.

Dona was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Verl and Gordon Sutton and a son, Justin Dale Conrady. Her husband, Herman of 61 years joined her in the hereafter August 15, 2012.

Dona will be missed by her son, Mark; his wife, Sheila; grandchildren Colton and Carlie Conrady of Wakita; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Dixie Sutton and family of Thorton, Colorado; her sister, Sharon Misak and husband, Chuck and family of Williamburg, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Dona enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, a good joke, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren, Colton and Carlie Conrady.

Herman Dale Conrady was born February 26, 1928 and passed from this earth on August 15, 2012. He was the eldest son of Jennie Kletecka and Patrick "Pappy" Conrady and was raised on the Conrady homestead northeast of Wakita, where he farmed until his death. He was honored by receiving the Pioneer Conservation Award in 2011 for his improvement to the Conrady family homestead. He graduated from Wakita High School in 1946 and married Dona Sutton July 14, 1951. They had two sons, Mark Conrady and Justin Conrady.

Herman served in the US Army, stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado and he later served in the Oklahoma National Guard. He worked forty years for Grant County in heavy equipment operation and also served as road foreman.

Herman was preceded in death by his wife, Dona; his son, Justin Conrady; his parents and his brother, Bill Conrady.

He will be missed by his son, Mark; daughter-in-law, Sheila; grandchildren, Colton and Carlie Conrady of Wakita; his brother, Marvin Conrady and family of Wakita; his brother, Ken Conrady and wife, Jean of Godfrey, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.

Herman enjoyed his retirement, spending time with his grandchildren, Colton and Carlie during their early years, and farming with his son, Mark.

The family has requested memorials may be made to the EMS or Fire Department of one’s choice.
