Ruth E. Best was born Oct. 16, 1919 to Arthur and Elizabeth (Dickemyer) Bollman on the farm west of Wakita.
On May 16, 1939 Ruth was united in marriage with Lynn Best in Wakita. They lived in the Gore community until they retired and moved to Wakita.
On Sunday, April 15, 2007, she passed away at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn, on March 8, 1989; her parents; and two brothers, George and Harry Bollman.
Ruth will be deeply missed by her daughters, Lynda Waldie and husband Don of Wakita, and Lynis Wing of Wichita; three brothers, Harold Bollman and wife Wanda of Wakita, Bill Bollman of Anthony, KS, and Arthur Bollman of Dover, Del.; four sisters, Ella Ball of Towanda, KS, Phillis Yuchnovitz of Newport News, WV, Elsie Derrick of Anthony, and Edna Smith of Harper, KS; two granddaughters, Kandie Bircher and Michelle and Winn Wineinger; one grandson, Mikel Waldie; four great-grandchildren, Jennifer McGuire, Brandon Hutchinson, Brooke Bircher and Dalen Smith; one great-great-grandson, Merrick; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2007 at United Methodist Church in Wakita with Rev. Derrek Belase officiating. Interment will be in Wakita Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and 10 a.m. to service time at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Cancer Society or Wakita United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home, Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 East Main Street, Anthony, KS 67003 in charge of arrangements.
