Wakita Cemetery


Wakita – The funeral for Edward W. Ayers, 88, will be 2 PM Monday at Wakita Christian Church with Eldon James officiating. Arrangements are by Wakita Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:59 PM Sunday and 10 AM to service time Monday at the church.

He was born December 15, 1911, at Sand Creek to Walton A. and Gertrude M. Farr Ayers and died Thursday, December 23, 1999, at Wakita. He was a retired farmer and member of Wakita Christian Church. He was a lifelong area resident. On December 26, 1933, he married Ruth E. Walker at Anthony, Kansas.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; four daughters, Beverly Lacey, Sue Jones and Eda Schuelke all of Wakita and Mary Green of Tulsa; two brothers, Glenn "Gib" Ayers of Wakita and Gene Ayers of Crescent; nine grandchildren; nine great – grandchildren; and one great – great – grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
