Marie Eva (Somers) Johnson, Okmulgee, OK, formerly of Kremlin, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, at the age of 87. Marie was born December 17, 1934, in Medford, Oklahoma, to Willard E. and Leona A. (Robertson) Somers.
Marie graduated from Jefferson High School in May of 1952 where she was class Salutatorian. Marie married Floren Edward Johnson on August 1, 1952. After spending time with Floren in California where he was stationed in the Navy, they returned to Oklahoma and settled in Kremlin, where they farmed for more than 40 years and raised their family.
Marie worked as a nursing assistant at St. Mary's Hospital for several years before going to work at Enid State School from where she retired in 1997. Marie enjoyed spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her eyes. Nothing pleased Marie more than big family gatherings with all her family present.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Floren; infant son Floren Aaron Johnson; son Bruce Edward Johnson and his wife Lyndie Johnson; her parents, Willard E. Somers and Leona A (Robertson) Somers; brothers, Glover Somers, William Somers and wife Joan, Homer O. Somers and wife Linda; sister, Thelma Caywood and husband Willis; and brother-in-law Emmett Hickok.
Marie is survived by her children, Donna and Ross McCartney, Enid, OK, Kevin and Vicky Johnson, Davis, OK, Brenda and Michael Hoyle, Okmulgee, OK, Willard and Dona Johnson, Davis, OK, Faron and Jackie Johnson, Kremlin, OK; her sister, Alta R. Hickok, Valley Center, KS; brother, Frank and wife Jean Somers, Waynesville, MO; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at a future date at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Medford, OK.
