March 22, 1957 - March 20, 2015 WAKITA Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for James Alan Conrady, the fifth child born to Carl and Rosalie (Blubaugh) Conrady, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, at St. Mary s Assumption Catholic Church in Wakita, Okla. The Rev. Carl Janocha will officiate. A wake service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at St. Mary s Assumption Catholic Church.James Alan Conrady was born March 22, 1957, in Anthony, Kan., and left this world to join his Heavenly Father on Friday, March 20, 2015.
James grew up on a farm northeast of Wakita. He attended Wakita schools and graduated in 1975. James loved high school sports, where he excelled in track, leaving many records that still remain. After high school, James attended Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1979, with a degree in forestry management. He liked nature and enjoyed watching and keeping track of the local wildlife. After graduating from OSU, he had a brief career in the energy industry.
James returned to the family farm, where he raised cattle, wheat and an occasional field of milo. He enjoyed the outdoor life the farm had to offer. Listening to classical music and reading about historical events occupied a lot of his free time.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Rosalie Conrady; brother, C.J. Conrady; and sister, Dr. Mary Conrady Healey.
He is survived by brothers, Tom and Barbara Conrady of Anthony, Kan., and Larry and Cathy Conrady of Enid, Okla.; sister-in-law, Dottie Koeppen of Wichita, Kan.; brother-in-law, Walter Healey of Dallas, Texas; nephews and nieces, John and Lesha Conrady, Marc and Jackie Conrady, Michael Conrady and Cully, Brian and Michele Busse, Thomas and Tabatha Conrady, Brian Conrady, Douglas and Wendi Conrady, Brent and Cheryl Conrady, Richard Healey and fianc e Anna Marie, and Jonathan Healey; stepnieces, Todd and Gina Malaska and Todd and Jennifer Lohman; and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, March 24, and Wednesday, March 25, at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, Kan. Interment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Clyde, Okla.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wakita Community Health Center in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
