February 27, 1943 - September 25, 2018

Larry R. Feist, of Manchester, Oklahoma, was born February 27, 1943, in Anthony, Kansas. He passed from this life on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in Oklahoma City.

On January 15, 1966, Larry married Janette Carter. The couple raised their family in Medford.

During that time, he was a school teacher and was self-employed as a custom harvester, sign shop owner and farm equipment salesman.

In 1995, he and Janette moved to Guymon, where they worked in the crop industry. In 2000, they returned to Manchester to farm.

Beginning in September 2006, Larry and Janette served faithfully in the Retrouvaille Ministry to help couples heal and renew their marriages. Throughout his life, he was an active member and served in a variety of ministry roles at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Medford and Saint Mary Assumption in Wakita.

Larry was a social bug; he thoroughly enjoyed visiting with everyone, especially his family and friends. He was generally among the last ones to leave a social event. This was true as recently as the 2018 Wakita 16th Celebration, which he attended nine days before his death.

Larry also enjoyed farming, fishing, auctions and telling stories and jokes. He was special to all of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Larry is survived by daughter, Tammy Jacobs (Dru) of Yukon; sons, Brian Feist (Christina) of Ponca City, Doug Feist (Christina) of Collinsville, Mississippi; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Carson Jacobs, Briana and Tyler Feist, Kayla and Jacob Feist, Makalee, Rylee, and Harlee Taylor; brothers, Marion Feist of Hollister, California, Leroy (Sonya) Feist of Topeka, Kansas, and Gary (Peggy) Feist of Wakita, Oklahoma; sisters, Anna (Gus) Garcia of Columbus, Georgia, and Vonda Lee of Carlsbad, California; brother-in-law, Olin Carter( Barbara) of Valparaiso, Indiana; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Janette Carter; parents, Frank and Catherine Feist; brothers, Melvin Feist and J.C. Feist; and sister, Beatrice Feist Drouhard.

Larry donated his body to Oklahoma Health Sciences Center's Willed Body Program for medical education and/or research throughout Oklahoma.

A memorial service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Saint Mary Assumption Catholic Church in Wakita.
