ENID, Okla. — Funeral mass for Janet Marie Conrady, 77, of Wakita will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at St. Mary Assumption Catholic Church in Wakita with the Rev. James A. Greiner officiating. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at the church in Wakita led by Father Carl William Janocha. Burial will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery near Manchester with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford. www.lanmanmemorials.com.
Janet was born on March 28, 1936, in Long Beach, Calif., the daughter of John J. Alden and Nathell Larson Alden and passed from this life on April 23, 2013, in Oklahoma City. Janet was 12 years old when her family moved from California to Wakita, where Janet has continued to live for 65 years. She graduated from Wakita High School in 1954 and attended two years of college at Sacred Heart in Wichita, Kan. She married Bill Conrady on Jan. 17, 1957, in Wakita. Janet served as the U.S. Postmaster in Wakita. She loved big family gatherings, doing most of the cooking. Janet was an excellent cook, she loved gardening flowers and vegetables, loved expressing her creativity in arts and crafts and she was a huge fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder. As an adult she continued to be actively involved in playing basketball. Janet served many years as a Girl Scout leader and participated in other community organizations. Janet adored her grandchildren and loved attending their special events. She was the music director, religion teacher, youth leader and a member of the Altar Society at St. Mary Assumption Catholic Church.
Surviving Janet are her children, Kevin Conrady and wife, Glenda, Jennie Takyi-Micah and husband, Tom, Steven Conrady and wife, Melissa, Karen Blubaugh and husband, Jay and Tony Conrady; and 11 grandchildren; three brothers, Don Alden and wife, Sandy, Richard Alden and wife, Nancy, Mike Alden and wife, Laura; three sisters, Shirley Lawrence and husband, Bill, Sharon Lawrence and husband, Ray, Marilyn Currier and husband, Larry and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gerard, husband Bill, parents John and Nathell Alden, and brother, Kenneth Alden.
Memorials may be given to the Wakita Educational Foundation through the funeral home.
