Rosemound Cemetery


The funeral for Walter B. Stover, 87, of Medford will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hills-Ely Funeral Home Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Don Siders will officiate. Burial will follow in Rosemound Cemetery, Medford. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 19, 1918, at Medford to Charles D. and Mayme Pearl Long Stover and died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, at Medford Care Center.

He graduated from Medford High School in 1937. He worked for Boeing Aircraft, Wichita, Kan., in 1943.

He married Mary Mae Diller Aug. 27, 1944, in Enid. They lived in Medford, Wichita, Long Beach, Calif., and back to Medford.

He was a master craftsman, taking first place in wood model-making for certified Fisher auto and stagecoach. He built homes in Beverly Hills, Calif., Grant County and many neighboring communities.

He served as district governor and president of Lions Club, member of Grant County Historical Society, Cher-O-Kan Gateway Associ-ation, Medford Chamber of Commerce, and National Rifleman’s Association. He researched and verified ancestry for the Grant County history and spearheaded the effort for erecting the homesteaders monument on the county court house lawn in Medford. He was a member of Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, of Medford; one son, Gaylen Stover of Medford; three daughters, Carol Stover-Aguilar of Dallas, Janice Harris of Denton, Texas, and Susan Mossman of Council Grove, Kan.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Church of Christ.
