The funeral for Avis Stoll, 95, of Medford, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, in Hills-Ely Funeral Home Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Bobby Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery, Medford.
She was born June 14, 1913, near Medford to George and Allie Ann Haworth Stoll and died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at Servant Living Center, Medford.
She graduated from Medford High School in 1932. She received her nursing degree in Kansas City, Mo., in 1935, and a degree in zoology from Oklahoma University in 1939. She served as a dorm mom at OU while attending school.
She was a registered nurse. She did graduate work at Kansas University, Pittsburg Pennsylvania Uni-versity and University of Iowa.
She was director of nursing at Burge Hospital School of Nursing, Springfield, Mo., in 1944, and taught nursing in Kansas City. She returned to Medford in 1983.
Surviving are three nieces, Berniece Tillman of Tulsa, Ruth Adams of Santa Fe, N.M., and Elizabeth Hein of Bakersfield, California.
She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
