The funeral for Shirley Stanley Soper, 83, of Medford will be Monday January 28th in Medford. Laura Glover will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetary, Medford. Arrangements are by Stittsworth Funeral Home, Medford.
She was born October 7, 1935, in Enid, Oklahoma to Cecil William and Vera Juanita Yarnell Haws. Shirley departed for her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
Shirley was raised in rural Medford and attended Medford Schools and Enid Business College. She married Gilbert Soper in 1954 and raised their 3 children. She had lived in Oklahoma City, Hot Springs, Arkansas, and then returned to Medford. She worked on the family farm with the family custom harvest business, at the local telephone office, a local insurance agency, and the dental office of Dr. Larkin in Hot Springs, AR. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Medford.
Shirley enjoyed country music and reading novels. She had a love for animals, especially her cat Maggie. If anyone was up for the challenge, she loved to talk politics.
Shirley's spirit lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter. She is survived by one son, Steve Soper (Ronna) of Medford, two daughters Cindy Wimberly (Bobby) of Norman, and RexAnn Kretchmar (Scott) of Medford. 7 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the caregivers at Golden Oaks in both skilled nursing and assisted living center. We truly appreciate each one of you and the care you provided our mother.
