Wanda Jane Jones Reed was born June 25, 1923, in Wakita, Okla., the daughter of Walter and Estella Johnson Myers and passed from this life on Friday, April 3, 2015, in Tulsa, Okla.
She attended school in Wakita, Bentonville, Ark., and Wichita, Kan.
Wanda and William C. Jones were married June 10, 1941. While he was in the U.S. Air Force, they lived in Alberta, Canada, and Medford. During their married lifetime, they spent summers in Manitou, Colo., and winters in South Texas.
While living in Medford, Okla., Wanda was a member of First Christian Church and belonged to Miriam Circle. She belonged to National Association of Federal Employees and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star and a Charter Lifetime Member of Medical Air Services Association.
Wanda loved to tell of making the first wind sock and first flags for the golf course. Being very musical, Wanda played the organ and sang in the choir. She was a group leader and music director for USDA Retirement Community for many years.
Her husband, Bill, preceded her in death in December 1990. On August 10, 1992, she and Gilbert Reed were married. He also preceded her in death in August 1993. Wanda had moved to Tulsa to be near her son, Jim.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; three sisters, Alta Brim, Pauline Lacy and Vera Minor; three brothers, Cecil Myers, Lewis Myers and Keith Myers; and daughter-in-law, Sue Jones.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jim Jones and spouse Gayle; granddaughter, Jacque Calico and spouse Chris; great-granddaughters, Baleigh Napier and Brooke Napier; nephew, Jerry Jones and spouse Pat; stepgrandchildren, Tony Tempest and spouse Jennifer and Jessica Lauterbach and spouse Troy; stepgreat-grandchildren, Emily Calico, Braxton Tempest, Grayson Tempest, Anneston Tempest, Camden Lauterbach and Hudson Lauterbach.
Funeral service for Wand Reed will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Medford First Christian Church, with the Rev. Craig VanDeburgh officiating. Burial will be at Rosemound Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Medford. Viewing will be 1-7 p.m. Monday, with family present from 5-7 p.m. (www.lanmanmemorials.com)
