The memorial service for Charlie Edward Pitcher, 98, of Medford, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at First Christian Church, Medford. The Revs. Craig VanDeburgh and Bobby Smith will officiate. Inurnment will be in Rosemound Cemetery, Medford. Arrange-ments are by Hills-Ely Funeral Home, Medford.
He was born March 11, 1910, on the family farm northwest of Medford to Jonathan Fennimore and Clara Veitengruber Pitcher and died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Community Health Center, Wakita.
He attended Valley Center School through the eighth grade and then worked the farm with his father and brothers.
He married Hazel Stockwell May 15, 1934. They made their home east of Medford, where he continued to farm and raise cattle. He also served as a substitute mail carrier during World War II and was a carpenter. He was a member of First Christian Church, Medford. She died Nov. 12, 1998.
Surviving are one daughter, Oma Lea Rogers of Medford; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Hazel, he was preceded in death by an infant son, two sisters and two brothers.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home, P.O. Box 280, Medford, OK 73759 to Medford Am-bulance Fund, First Christian Church or Community Health Center.
