ENID — Helen Marie Dahlem, age 90, funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Jefferson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Shepherd officiating with interment in Rosemound Cemetery, Medford. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.

Helen (Nichols) Dahlem was born on Feb. 3, 1921, at Deer Creek, Okla., to James Raymond Nichols nd Emma (Voegeli) Nichols. She passed away May 19 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, Enid, Okla. She was the oldest child of six children. She attended Mayflower school at Deer Creek for six years.

The family moved to a farm east of Jefferson, Okla. Helen attended Jefferson High School, graduating in 1939. On May 21, 1939, she married her sweetheart Leland Darrell Dahlem. They were married for over 50 years and spent their lives farming.

Helen was a member of Jefferson Methodist Church and served in many areas of the church. Her husband and family were her most important people in her life. She was a gentle, loving and caring mother.

Helen was a member of UMW at Jefferson Methodist, Rebekah Lodge 108, Eastern Star 447, Mother's Club and L.H. Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her infant son, who died at birth, her parents and sisters, Mabel Roggow and Rose Clark.

Surviving are her children, son John R. Dahlem and daughter, Janice Meritt and husband Larry Meritt, both of Jefferson; three grandchildren, Todd Meritt, Fort Worth, Texas, Michelle and husband Shannon Layhew of Enid; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Layhew and Tristen Layhew of Enid; sisters, Mary Ann Dykes and husband Bob of Enid, Okla., Raelene Brown of Ponca City, Okla., and brother, Charles W. Nichols of Enid, Okla., many nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to Jefferson Methodist Church or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Heart Division.
