Robert Wayne "Bob" Aebi
May 9, 1944 - January 12, 2023
Robert Wayne Aebi was born to Carl and Laverna Schmitz Aebi on May 9, 1944. Bob grew up on the family farm in Jefferson and graduated a proud Jefferson Miller in 1962. He attended every school reunion and even hosted some of them. After graduating high school, he attended Sayre Jr College in Sayre and played basketball for the college. He went on to attend college and play basketball for Northwestern Oklahoma State College in Alva. At Northwestern, he also was a part of the choir, which is where he met his future wife Kathryn Huffman. He later left college and joined the U.S. Army Reserves.
Bob and Kathryn were married in Mutual on August 19, 1967. They were married 47 years. Bob worked several places before starting in the operators shack for Koch Hydrocarbon in Medford. After OneOk bought out Koch, Bob retired in July 2010, serving 37 years between the two companies. Bob was always a little disappointed he didn’t retire from Koch. After retirement from OneOk, Bob was asked to work for BlueKnight, working for them for Three years.
Bob and Kathryn travelled a lot and especially enjoyed the five trips they made to Alaska with his brothers and sisters-in-law, along with several friends. After Kathryn passed away in September 2014, Bob continued to travel and even took four trips with his son, Troy.
Bob and Kathryn raised four children: Shelly, Troy, Kateena and Kimberly. They were the proud grandparents of six: Abbie, Briana, Raegan, Jaden, Jaret and Hadley. Besides absolutely anything the grandkids were doing, Bob loved Oklahoma football and basketball, along with the Thunder.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Laverna Aebi; his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Luella Huffman; his sister-in-law, Johnny Mae Aebi, and little brother, Gary.
He will be deeply missed by his family, Shelly and Rod Haskins; Troy Aebi and Deanna Linder; Kateena and Frankie Roberts; Kimberly and Steve Matthews; his grandchildren, Abbie Haskins and Quincy Tunstall, Briana Feist, Raegan Haskins, Jaden Matthews, Jaret Matthews, and Hadley Haskins. He also will be missed by his great-grandson, Kaden Tunstall; his brother and sister-in-law, Delvin and Mary Ann, and brother, Charles; along with many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family requests memorials be made to the Jefferson United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
