Kathryn was born Monday, Feb. 10, 1947, in Mooreland, Okla., to Charles and Luella Huffman and passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at her home surrounded by family.
She was raised in Mutual, Okla., and graduated from Mutual High School.
She married Robert “Bob” Aebi on Aug. 19, 1967. They started their family in Woodward, Okla., and moved to Medford, Okla., in 1972. They were blessed with four children.
She worked many jobs while raising their children, but retired as First Deputy from the Grant County Assessor’s Office in 2011.
Kathryn served her community and church in many ways. She served on committees and organized events. She was a member of UMW. She and Bob served as MYF leaders for many years. Kathryn never missed an opportunity to help clean up at weddings or do dishes at funerals. She and Bob served the community they love every chance they had. She was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church and loved being a shopper and supporter of the Noel Project/Angel Tree at Christmas for many years.
Kathryn was a member of the church choir her whole life. She began singing as a young child and even sang in the college choir with her husband, Bob. Music was very important to her and she passed the love of singing onto her granddaughter, Briana. She encouraged her and coached her in church and competitions. Kathryn is known especially for her orange popcorn balls at Halloween. Throughout the years there was always a line of kids and parents at her door, and she ran out every year.
She was very active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives and never missed a program or a game. She never failed to find matching shirts for everyone and wouldn’t ever leave anyone out. Kathryn loved her family and was great about giving them the gift of time, and spent that time making many memories.
Following her retirement, she and Bob spent time traveling with a special group of people. They have gone many places by bus, boat and plane. She especially enjoyed the trips to Alaska.
Kathryn will be missed by everyone who knew her, but especially her husband of 47 years, Bob; four children, Shelly (Rod) Haskins of Medford, Okla., Troy Aebi of Ponca City, Okla., Kateena (Frank) Roberts of Medford, Okla., and Kimberly (Steve) Matthews of Hennessey, Okla.; six grandchildren, Abbie, Raegan and Hadley Haskins, Briana Feist, and Jaden and Jaret Matthews; two brothers, Dale (Darla) Huffman of Mutual, Okla., and Paul (Gwen) Huffman of Lemmon, S.D.; as well as her brothers-in-law and their families, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Luella Huffman; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Laverna Aebi; and sister-in-law, Johnnie Mae Aebi.
Memorials may be made to Jefferson United Methodist Church to benefit the choir and UMW through the funeral home.
