ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Eugene Kent Tennant is 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Pond Creek, with the Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Interment in Pond Creek Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.

Eugene Kent Tennant was born Nov. 17, 1931, in Pond Creek, Okla., to Haskell and Lela (Hergert) Tennant and died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at his home in Pond Creek.

They moved to New Mexico at age 10, then to Wichita, Kan., where he graduated from East High School, also Wichita Business College in electronics.

He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954, in Germany.

He married Marie Young-Duncan in Wichita, Kan., in 1952.

He worked for Boeing in Wichita, Kan., and Seattle, Wash., missle sites in many states, and was manager for cable systems in Kansas and Nebraska for 20 years before retiring to Pond Creek, Okla., in 1999.

He was a life member of VFW and American Legion, member of First Baptist Church in Colby, Kan., where he served as deacon, trustee, treasurer, worship leader and taught Sunday School.

He was preceded in death by son, Robert Eugene Tennant, and parents, Haskell and Lela Tennant.

Surviving are three sons, Randy Tennant and wife Imelda of McPherson, Kan., Russell Tennant of Pond Creek, and Richard Tennant of Colorado Springs; brother, Melvin Haskell Tennant of Kansas City, Kan.; sisters, Joan Mumma of Wichita, Kan., and Marlene Shirey of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Justen and Andrea Tennant, Tiffany and Travis Palmer, Genny and Wesley Chambers, Desiree Tennant, Samuel Tennant and Jason Arens; great-grandchildren, Brayton Palmer, Kyler Palmer, Braylon Tennant and Savanah Chambers.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for heart or cancer research.
