October 8, 1949 - August 1, 2020
Judith Annette (Lathan) Schuermann was born October 8, 1949 to Ralph and Delsie Lathan and passed from this world to join her girls on August 1, 2020 after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Judy grew up in Salina, Kansas. Later living in Omaha, Nebraska and Orange, California. While in California she graduated beauty college. Thus allowing her to work in a field where her true calling was...talking!! Doing hair was just a bonus! She could tell a story like no other. She was stunningly beautiful, had a contagious smile, and in her final days all the nurses commented about her beautiful long hair and skin, with very little wrinkles. She would have loved this.
She married John Ferris in 1973 and they made their home in Pond Creek, Oklahoma. From this marriage a family of 7 children was built. In 1984 she got it right when she married the love of her life Steve Schuermann. From this union came 3 more children.
She made friends and memories with the many people who sat in her chair while working at her home beauty salon, Reeser's Artist of Hair, or later at Golden Oaks Salon. She could often be found washing down her driveway, baking with her grandkids, watching movies, or hanging with Steven. Her soul knew his to the very end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Roger and Randy Lathan and her daughters Simone Schuermann and Brandi Ferris-Johnson. She is survived by her husband Steve Schuermann of Pond Creek, sons Kenny (Autumn) Ferris, Jeff Ferris, Johnny (Cara) Ferris, Josh Ferris, Zachary (Chelsea) Schuermann, Adam Schuermann, and daughters Jeri Ferris and Jenni (Bill) Blundell, many grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday August 7, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Pond Creek, OK, officiated by Rev. Wendie Jencks- Wilson. Interment will follow at Pond Creek Cemetery. If flowers aren't your thing but you want to do something, donations can be made to Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative-OHAI with Wilson Funeral Home in Pond Creek handling funds.
