ENID, Okla. — Robert T. “Bob” Hurst, 73, loving husband, Dad and Papa went to be with the Lord Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012.

A worship service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at First Lutheran Church of Pond Creek, with Pastor Gerald Roggow officiating. Burial will follow in Pond Creek Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Bob was born Aug. 12, 1939, in Salem, Ill., to Clyde and Gertrude (Fowler) Hurst.

After graduating college, he was manager of Montgomery Ward in Blackwell, Okla. From there, he took a position with Continental Oil Co. in Ponca City, Okla., where he worked for 15 years.

In 1983, his family relocated to Pond Creek, where he owned and operated Bob’s Easy Shop for 14 years.

During those years, he was active as a volunteer firefighter, first responder and reserve police officer. He also served as Chamber of Commerce President.

After retirement, he and wife Carolyn spent several years in the Branson area, where they made many wonderful friends.

Bob enjoyed hunting, camping, boating and golfing. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, where he served as past president of the congregation and as an elder. Bob was most happy when surrounded by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jake Sloan; one sister-in-law; and several brothers-in-law.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carolyn; three daughters and their families: Robert, Ty, Courtney and Tucker Van Dyke, Pond Creek, Okla., Kenny, Krista, Colter and London Morrison, Borger, Texas, and Don, Kendra, Trey and Nathan Sloan, Dewey, Okla.; sister, Wanda Hicks, Conover, N.C.; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to First Lutheran Church of Pond Creek, Pond Creek Ministerial Alliance or Hospice Circle of Love, with Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.
