Pond Creek Cemetery


Pond Creek – Donna Lee Hurla, 42, died early Thursday in an Enid hospital.

Recitation of the Rosary was at 7 PM Friday in Wilson Funeral Home at Pond Creek.

Requiem Mass will be at 9:30 AM Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Docker as celebrant. Burial will be in Pond Creek Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her father, Tom Shaffer, in 1970, her mother, Goldie Fern Shaffer, in 1975, and a sister in 1922.

Survivors include four sons, Keith, Kyle, Karl and Kirk, all of Pond Creek; one daughter, Kristin Hurla, Pond Creek; one granddaughter, three brothers, Eugene Shaffer, Wichita, Kansas, Thomas "Bud" Shaffer, Pond Creek, and Jack Shaffer, Jefferson; four sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Mildred) Lee, Pond Creek, Mrs. Charles (Joan) Bushnell, Jefferson, Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Avery, Aurora, Colorado, and Mrs. Ernest (Joyce) Overton Jr., Pond Creek.

Memorials may be made in her name to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer Fund, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
