January 21, 1935 - December 24, 2021Don slipped away to go talk to Jesus on December 24, 2021.
He was born to John F. Fitts and Grace Noah Fitts on January 21, 1935, in Blackwell, OK. He spent most of his young life in Chanute, Kansas, graduating from Vilas High School in 1953. While there he was active in various sports including track and basketball, leaving behind records to be broken. He briefly attended Chanute Jr. College and Tonkawa Jr. College.
Don moved to Pond Creek in 1957 to help his father at the Fitts' Grocery Store. In 1960 he operated Don's Curve Cafe until 1967. He then engaged in custom harvesting for several years. Don retired from the Family Car Center in Enid where he enjoyed selling cars. After retirement he spent time with his family going on fishing trips and attending grandkids' sports activities.
Don married Norma Ann Shrubshall February 18, 1961. They raised three children: Melinda Lounsbury, Lesa Flanagan and Greg Fitts, who brought them seven fun grandchildren: Tyler Lounsbury, Whitney Betchan, Caleb Lounsbury, Logan Flanagan, Kenzi Flanagan, Tristan Fitts and Makayla Fitts. Additionally, Don's three great-grandchildren are Jordyn Lounsbury, Taber Betchan and Libby Lounsbury.
Don deeply loved his children and enjoyed every precious moment with them.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at the Pond Creek Cemetery. Rev. Richard Dunn will officiate.
Memorials for Don may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or Pond Creek Fire and EMS Association.
Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek, OK.
