ENID, OK — Joy Faye Morris Farmer, 84, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning May 31, 2014. Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday June 3, 2014, at First Baptist Church. The Revs. Les Washnock and George Lupton will officiate. Interment will follow in Pond Creek Cemetery, under direction of Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek. Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 2, 1929 in Culleoka, Texas.
She married John T. Farmer in January 1947.
Joy was a faithful, loving and courageous wife and mother.
During the first 20 years of marriage, the family moved many times following the pipeline construction jobs in the Great Plains states and British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario, Canada.
After moving from Alberta in 1970, the Farmers made their final home in Pond Creek.
Joy kept busy being secretary for all the family owned business ventures and was owner of Farmer Motel in Pond Creek, from which she retired in 1989.
She was a member of Pond Creek Cemetery Board and enjoyed delivering meals for Wheatheart Nutrition. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband John T. Farmer and daughter Linda Beth Farmer Stinson.
She is survived by daughter Pamela Robinson and husband, Ron, Charlotte, N.C., and son Benny Farmer and wife Marla, Pond Creek; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love Enid or Pond Creek Cemetery Association.
