A memorial service for John Charles Day, 65, of Meno, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Ames. The Revs. Jim Nance and Jake Snodgrass will officiate. Private graveside service will be at a later date in Pond Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1941, in Grant County to Billie Louis and Wilma June Day and died Thursday, July 6, 2006, at his home.
He grew up in Jefferson and graduated from Pond Creek High School. He worked for Central Machine and Tool for almost 35 years. He also worked in the oil fields and rode bulls in rodeos. He was a member of Enid Bass Club.
He married Maria Guadalupe Tapia Nunez May 30, 1995, in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Surviving are his wife, Maria of the home; five children, Mella, Joe and Karen Day, of the home, James Day of Thailand and Dee Dee Guilbault of Sylacauga, Ala.; his mother, Wilma Evans of Enid; his father, Billie Day of Lakin, Kan.; one brother, Billy Gene Day of Enid; one sister, Donna Sue Hutchison of Lakin; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the John Day Children’s Educational Fund or Hospice Circle of Love.
