Pond Creek Cemetery


Pond Creek – Graveside service for Jack Preston Appleby, 62, will be at 11 AM today in the Pond Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Bookout, minister of the Free Will Baptist Church, Blackwell, will officiate. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home.

He was born July 10, 1931, in Enid to Ralph Raymond and Okla Lucille Mitchell Appleby and died Tuesday, March 29, 1994, at Enid Regional Hospital. He was a farmer and worked at Beech Aircraft for four years, Boeing Aircraft, seven months; Cessna, six-months; and at Vance Air Force Base as a service station attendant for four years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Pond Creek where he was baptized in 1937 and a member of Aircraft Sheet Metal and Sideglass Union. He was raised in the Hunter area, moving to Breckinridge and Holly at the age of six. He attended Eagle Grove school and Garrison school at Pond Creek, then went to Hunter, Pond Creek, Jefferson and Gore before moving back to Jefferson.

Surviving are one half – brother, Earl Waldie Jr. of Enid, and one half – sister, Bernadine Waldie Marquez of Chino, California.
