ENID, Okla. — Alma Marie (Yoder) York was born March 4, 1917, the first born child of Daniel and Eva (Zimmerman) Yoder in Jet, Okla. Alma had five sisters and three brothers.

She grew up on a farm south of Jet and graduated from high school as class valedictorian in 1935.

Alma remained in Nash until August 2010, when her children strongly suggested she try “assisted living,” which she reluctantly agreed to. Alma lived at “The Arbors” in Enid, Okla., for two years before moving to Golden Oaks in December 2012.

Alma is survived by four children, Nita Chestnut and husband O’Neil of Mustang, Okla., Bill and wife Lavonna of Nash, Okla., Pat Cronkhite of Enid, Okla., and Tom of Nash, Okla. She also is survived by 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

She also is survived by two sisters, Doris Selley and Joan Freeman and two brothers, Ron Yoder and Bob Yoder and a host of relatives and friends.
