Mrs. Belle H. FOUSTENID, OK — Alice was born Nov. 13, 1923, near Salt Fork, Grant County, Oklahoma, to George Tyree and Adia Gray Bobbitt. She died May 9, 2014, in Enid Asbury Apartments at The Commons.
She was a Lamont High School class of 1942 graduate and attended Central State Teachers College (now Central State University). Like many women who helped the war effort by taking men’s jobs in factories, Alice accepted a position with Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City and worked as a Rosie the Riveter on C-47 air transports.
After the war, Alice married William A. Sharp and had three sons.
In 1968, she married C. Homer Heusel of Lamont.
She celebrated her retirement from Longs John Deer dealership, Garber, Oklahoma, in 1990. Alice was treasurer for the town of Lamont for 27 years. She played piano at Lamont Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school from age 14. Alice organized the Sunday morning “sing-a-long” for residents of The Commons in Enid.
Alice’s family includes three sons, Bill Sharp and his late wife Sharon of Bastrop, Texas; George Sharp and wife Phyllis of Kingwood, Texas; Bob Sharp and wife Sue of Towanda, Kansas; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life for Alice will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at Enid Commons Asbury dining area. Funeral for Alice will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Lamont United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Salt Fork, Oklahoma.
Memorials may be made to Mount Vernon Cemetery or Lamont UMC. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek, Oklahoma.
