May 27, 1928 - June 8, 2022Gerald was born May 27, 1928 in Meno to Robert Koehn and Anna Wedel Koehn and passed from this life on June 8, 2022 in Caldwell, Kansas at the age of 94. He graduated from Oklahoma Bible Academy in Meno in 1946 and continued his education at Northwestern State College in Alva.
He and Dorothy Dirksen met at Oklahoma Bible Academy and were married September 8, 1948 in the Medford Mennonite Church, north of Medford. He worked as a mechanic and farmer. In 1966 he received his plumbing license and was active as a plumber over 40 years.
He was a member of Medford Mennonite Church, where he was the Sunday School Superintendent, deacon, and did all the other jobs around the church that needed to be done. When the Medford Mennonite Church closed, they attended Deer Creek Mennonite Church.
Gerald always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell.
Gerald is survived by three children, Rodney Koehn and wife, Mary of Norman, Roger Koehn of Medford, Denise Ashton and husband, Terry of Waynoka; six grandchildren, Kari Edgar, Courtney Kincaid, Kandi Ormand, Holly Fowler, Justin Ashton, and Tyler Ashton; thirteen great grandchildren; three nieces, Cheryl Rolin, Barbara Fiegel, and Deborah Powell.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents, Robert and Anna Koehn, and sister, Verbia Unruh.
Funeral Service for Gerald will be Monday, June 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Medford First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Medford Mennonite Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford. Memorials may be given to Community Health Center Generator Fund or Medford Mennonite Cemetery through the funeral home.
