Dallas Gene Hess was born October 6, 1948 in Enid, Oklahoma, son of William Lee and Myrtle Irene (Gilley) Hess. He was raised on a farm in the sand hills near Wakita and Manchester, Oklahoma. He attended school in Wakita and graduated from Wakita High School.
On May 13, 1968, Dallas was inducted into the United States Army and was sent to Vietnam. He served his country honorably until his discharge on March 18, 1971.
Dallas returned to his childhood home and took part in the family farm and cattle operation and also ran the Sandy Corner Bar.
On November 27, 2012, Dallas passed away in the hospice unit at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 21 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill.
Dallas will be deeply missed by several extended family members and many friends.
Military Memorial Graveside Services were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Manchester Cemetery with Military Chaplain McGruder officiating. Military Honors were performed by Fort Sill Honor Guard.
Memorials in memory of Dallas may be given to the V.F.W. and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
